Casio DBC-32-1ADF Databank Watch (Module 2888)

Casio DBC-32-1ADF Databank Watch

(Module 2888)

Hello Casio owners from around the World. I hope you are all well.

As you can see from the title this post will focus on the highly popular Casio DBC-32 calculator and a 25 name and number databank.

I know a lot of people (including friends), think of this watch (and watches like it) just like  gimmick and don't take it seriously. The fact is this watch and the databank are still to this day quite useful. Imagine, if the unthinkable happened and you lost your mobile phone, this watch would be very handy indeed. For instance, how many mobile phone (or landline) numbers can you remember? In my case,a very few indeed. With my reasoning and thought's aired for owning one complete, let me start the review of this popular Casio Databank watch.

I bought this watch brand new from a company called Creation Watches back in July of 2020. It was, at that time heavily discounted and I paid £21 for the watch including delivery. Considering Casio UK and online retailers prices were double that, I snapped one up. Before I purchased the watch, I did check out Creation Watches and found them to be a trusted seller. However, I do have doubts to whether this watch is indeed a genuine Casio watch.

My senses were heightened, when the watch was delivered, in a generic black cardboard box (with no Casio markings on the said box)and no international warranty card as is usual with Casio. I obviously thought, and still  think I have bought a counterfeit (fake) Casio watch. I hope you can help me with my reasoning throughout this post.

In the picture above there are three arrows, pointing to what I believe are indicators the watch maybe a fake. From the top, the grey arrow is pointing to a black line on the glass. This feature I do believe should be part of the module (? unsure). The purple arrow is pointing to the illuminator print. This watch is not a true "BLUE" illuminator. It is actually a warm white. The green arrow, at the bottom is pointing to excess glue at the bottom of the keys. Again I ask, is this genuine? Please remember this watch has not been worn at all from new.

Watch Functions, Features & Operation

In the above picture, you can see the function buttons marked A to D.
Pressing button C once will take you to the first menu which is the data bank function. It has the capacity to store up to 25 names and numbers.
A second press on button C will take me to the calculator function.
Pressing the button a third time will take me to the alarm function of which there are 5 independent alarms and hourly chime function.
A fourth press of the C button takes me to the stop watch function.
A fifth press of the C button will take me to the Dual time function.
And finally a sixth push of the button takes the watch back to the time date and day page.

To add details to the data bank, press C once. Then press and hold the A button until the underscore cursor starts to flash on and off. By pressing the TEL/FWD> button on the front keyboard, I can scroll the the letters of the alphabet. Once the character has been chosen, I can move the cursor to the next line by pressing the D button to move forward. There is a maximum of 8 characters and 12 single numbers. Once all of the characters have been chosen, I can input up to 12 single numbers using the same technique.

The calculator function is very easy to use as all of the function keys/numbers are all on the front keyboard.

The functions and programming of the 5 alarms is quite straight forward also. When on the alarm page, using the TEL/FWD> button to scroll through 1 to 5 alarms. Pressing the <REV/TIME key to go back to alarm number 1. To adjust the alarm timer (when on the alarm page), press and hold button A, until the first number starts flashing, press the number on the front panel for the time you want, then press the D button to go to the next number. I can also backspace using the C button. This process is identical for each of the 5 alarms.

The stop watch function is the easiest function to use on the watch in my humble opinion. Whilst in the stopwatch mode, pressing the D button once will start the stop watch. To stop the timer, simply press the D button again. To reset the timer to zero, simply press the A button once.

The dual time zone function is set by pressing and holding the A button whilst on the dual time mode function. Press and hold the A button until the first number starts to flash. Input the number you require from the front key board, then move onto the next digit by pressing and D button and input the number. I can also back space by pressing the C button.

The watch is also equipped with a back light LED (orange colour), which can be operated any time by pressing the B button once. This watch also has an auto backlight function, that can be activated by pressing the B button for 5 seconds.

Whilst on the time and date screen, the time can be toggled between 12 and 24 hour clock by pressing the D button.

As you can see in the above picture, the red arrow is pointing to the 13 languages the watch can operate with. The bottom black (left) arrow is pointing the letters DH. These markings determine which European State they were intended to be shipped and sold to. I have read that the DH could be Hungary, how true that is, I am unsure. The markings on the case show the model number and the module number as it should be.

The buckle of the strap with the Casio name embossed on the front, as it should be.

As you can see from the picture above, the watch is equipped with a 10 year battery and just below the yellow arrow is the indicators for the auto light, alarm and mute, ensuring everything is set correctly.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about the Casio DBC-32, seen it's functions or maybe now you want one as you now know it's operations and many functions.

So,

until my next post, take care all Casio Owners and admirers.
