Casio DBC-32-1A Data Bank Watch Strap Replacement (Module 2888)
Casio DBC-32-1A Data Bank Watch Strap Replacement
11/2/2023
Hello Casio enthusiasts from around the word.
I hope you are all well.
In this post I will be replacing the black strap on my DBC-32. Not there is any damage to the black strap, it's just an aesthetic change I like. I had seen a version just like this whilst browsing and I had to do it. The only thing was, I couldn't find the correct strap until a couple of days ago. I obviously ordered it immediately as it was the last one the supplier had. A couple of nervous days later (as normally, with my luck, it's out of stock on the last one's), the strap arrived safe and sound. It's a very vibrant colour, maybe too bright for me to wear but I do love it and it's a great contrast.
First of all, I need the DBC out of it's box. It's looking a little dusty so I'll give it a clean whilst I'm on with this little job. I was going to change the battery, but there's no need as it has a 10 year battery in it and it's only 3 years old. To be fair, I've never been keen on this watch, but it is a data bank and I love data bank watches so I had to buy the watch.
Above is a picture of the strap and the invoice. The strap, has a model number of DBC-32C-2W and I can't help wonder if that was an actual watch or simply a part number for the strap. As you can see the strap was only £9.99 including delivery. I was expecting it (and was willing to pay a lot more) to be a lot more expensive. The strap dimensions are also shown above the blue arrow and they are a perfect match for my watch.
With everything I needed in hand to complete the replacement, I grabbed the watch and the correct tools to remove the black strap. I will be reusing the original string bars as they are new and the correct length and diameter.
A couple of minutes later, I had separated strap from the watch, and this is only easy using the correct tools. As you can see, the spring bars are in perfect condition. They are (if anyone is interested), 22mm long when installed a little long when uninstalled.
After removing the black strap, I took the new strap and put them side by side to compare them. Under inspection, the straps are identical in everything but colour. Every contour and dimension are perfect. Happy days indeed.
After a couple of minutes (magnifying glass included), the strap was correctly secured to the time piece and looking good in my humble opinion. I'm super happy with the results and actually looks better in real life than in any picture. I can also say I can see more of the definitions a lot easy with the new strap.
Some might like it, some may not. I personally love it and it has really changed the way I look at this watch now. It's a whole lot cooler but still a proper geek watch, which makes it double cool in my opinion.
To be fair, I didn't think I would like this modification, but I love it. After a little clean and a new strap, I have fallen in love at last with this watch. It always looked a little too serious before (just like a geek (me included)), but now it look's like a fun watch to own. I'd also like to say that, for £9.99 it's a must have to transform your tired old DBC into a fun watch once again.
Well that's it for this post Guy's. I hope you have enjoyed it and maybe learned a little about this watch.
Thank you for reading and please join me again soon.
Take care fellow Casio enthusiasts.
